Trackside Log for Sunday, February 25, 2007

Today I was working around the house and moving the last of my belongings from St. Catharines. While there I heard but didn't get to see the Herzog tie train on the Grimsby subdivision. However, when I got back to Fenwick with a desk and some other miscellanea I heard that Canadian Pacific train 254 was nearing town and that 255 would be following shortly thereafter. I took the time out to photograph the pair of them.

  • 1450 Fenwick - CP 254 south - CP 8617-SOO 6040-CP 9011
  • 1524 Fenwick - CP 255 north - SOO 6036-SOO 6032

That's one of the reasons I bought my house. After that I was back home setting up my office and waiting for my parents to arrive.

Trackside Log for Saturday, February 17, 2007

It was a nice bright morning so I took advantage of it to photograph the snow. I hadn't photographed Canadian National since the conductors went on strike which led me to Fort Erie to see some goings-on. As I was nearing town I heard that the crew of train 338 would be parking at Duff to take train 339.

  • 1057 Duff (Fort Erie) - CN 338 west - CN 2205-BNSF 333
  • 1115 Fort Erie - CN 339 east - CN 2677-CN 2454-CN 5541

I was just leaving Fort Erie when I heard the NI dispatcher tell train 339 that Canadian Pacific train 257 would be arriving shortly. I headed to Stevensville to photograph it there.

  • 1331 Stevensville - CP 257 west - CP 8520-CP 8216

Train 257 lost its air and went into emergency in front of me. The coulds were starting to roll in so I packed it in and headed home. Canadian Pacific train 256 was working Welland Yard on my way back to Fenwick, but I didn't stop for it. After working the yard, train 257 resumed its trip north. I was heading out and heard it coming so I photographed it coming around the bend in Fenwick.

  • 1546 Fenwick - CP 257 north - CP 8520-CP 8216

The GP9 was to be set off at Kinnear. After the train cleared I went hunting for lumber.

Trackside Log for Thursday, February 15, 2007

Today I went home for lunch after having picked up an order from Sears. While at home I heard from the scanner that train 256 was approaching Fenwick so I zipped over to the Church St. crossing to photograph it.

  • 1256 Fenwick - CP 256 south - CP 8552-CP 9633
After the photograph I headed back to Welland.

Trackside Log for Saturday, February 10, 2007

Today I was in my new home setting things up (like my HDTV) and listening to the scanner.  I heard that train 254 was at mile 41 so I headed outside to shoot it.
  • 1050 Fenwick - CP 2-254 south - CP 8814-CEFX 1026

After photographing the train I headed into town for some supplies.

Trackside Log for Wednesday, February 7, 2007

Today my Cogeco cable internet access was getting hooked up so I waited at my new house for them. The Canadian Pacific Hamilton Subdivision passes behind my house in Fenwick. While I was waiting I heard train 255 get a clearance out of Welland Yard. I took a few minutes to photograph it.
  • 0833 Fenwick - CP 255 north - CP 8601-CP 9713

After a while the cable guys showed up and wired me up which allowed me to write this entry from my new home.
