It was a very hot night and I don't have the air conditioning installed yet. Consequently I didn't sleep well and decided to bide some time beside the tracks in Merritton.

• 0842 Merritton - NS 328 east - NS 9069-NS 8928

After 328 it was time to leave for work.

The prior day's NS train 327 was pulled by a BN and a BNSF SD60 both in the green and cream scheme. Although the weather was dark and grey I went to Merritton to photograph it.

I saw what I came out to see so I returned home.

This morning I drove to Grimsby station to meet Steve who had informed me the night before that he would be there. I arrived just as CN trains 338 and 339 were meeting just west of the station which meant I had missed 338 but at least 339 would show in a couple minutes.

• 1108 Grimsby - Via 93 east - VIA 6411

After train 93 Steve had to head out so I decided to return to St. Catharines.

Trackside Log for Saturday, May 14, 2006

Today would be a mixture of ships and trains for photography. I headed out into the overcast skies before heading to Binbrook to visit my family for Mother's Day While photographing the Isadora in Port Robinson I heard NS 328 in St. Catharines.

While waiting for NS 328 I heard a CP southbound get a clearance from Kinnear to Welland. I figured I would be able to beat it to Pelham.

• 1216 Pelham - CP southbound - CP 9554-CP 9011-CP 9017

After the salty and two relatively interesting trains I called it a day and headed to Binbrook to visit with my mom.

This morning I met Marcus in Aldershot. The goal was to find some trains in the Brantford area.

• 1219 Brantford - CN 148 east - CN 6007-CSXT 5961-CN 9590

While train 148 was coming we heard train 580 head down to the old TH&B tracks. We don't get the chance to see 580 work the Brantford industries often so we headed after it.

Train 580 was on its way back to the yard so we returned to the station.

Not long after the westbound Marcus had to head home so we returned to Hamilton. On my way back home I stopped off at RaiLink.

There were some boats I wanted to photograph in the canal so I called it a day for the railway.
