Trackside Log for Saturday, March 10, 2001

I had been working in Regina, Saskatchewan on an IBM contract at the Farm Credit Corporation for the last several days. With my work complete and my flight back to Ontario scheduled for the next day I decided to rent a car and photograph some Canadian Pacific activity in the area. It was a beautiful sunny day so I headed west. Just outside of town I discovered an eastbound.

Snow covered ditches in the prairies can be deceptive. While getting into position for my picture I sank up to my waist in snow. I still got the photograph though. I continued west photographing along the way.

When I got to Moose Jaw I explored the area and was able to photograph various activities around town.

After a while I turned back eastward. My first stop on the return trip was at Pasqua. About this time the weather was warming up quite a bit. Now the dirt roads were starting to thaw. My rental car was having some difficulty navigating the ruts and mud so I made the decision to keep to paved roads after Pasqua. When I got out for the first photograph in Pasqua my previously red Chrysler was solid brown.

With my day of photography at an end I rejoined my IBM coworkers for the evening and then for the flight home the next day. It was a productive and adventurous day for my first time in Saskatchewan.
