Trackside Log for Friday, July 8, 2011

Tonight, just as Missy and I were approaching our driveway, we heard the sound of a southbound Canadian Pacific train approaching town. Since it was a nice bright, sunny (albeit humid) evening I quickly fetched my camera and drove to River Road for a photograph.

Air conditioning was sounding quite attractive to me. I then headed home to avoid the humidity.

  1. It was sluggish weather to move at all . Not easy .
I have a question for you . Do you/ or do you know anyone who is keeping track of the 'Street Art' and gang marking that we see now on railway cars all over the country ?

I realize that they are vandalism , but they are also a social history of our modern times . I often wonder where they begin and where they end up .

Wouldn't it be great to see other art on the side of those great metal canvases to travel the rails ? Perhaps it would bring the people back to the trains for the social event that stations used to be a long time ago . A travelling art show .

  2. Hmm... I known a few people that have taken the time to photograph some of the graffiti, yes. None have their collections publicly available that I know of though. I've never taken the time to search, but someone must have a collection available on-line.
